Electronics Watch Affiliates Engagement Manager

Electronics Watch is seeking an experienced engagement manager to strengthen relationships with our affiliates, develop new resources for affiliate engagement and recruit new potential affiliates globally. The successful candidate is experienced in public procurement and able to translate this experience to promote respect for human rights and labour rights in global supply chains. They will be competent in building rapport with and supporting affiliated organisations to implement human rights and environmental due diligence systems.

Electronics Watch is an expanding independent monitoring organisation for public sector buyers. We strive for a world in which the rights of all workers in the electronics supply chain are respected, workers’ voices are heard, and working conditions are safe and decent.

Electronics Watchs distinct focus is public procurement as a lever for impact in global supply chains. We bring together public sector buyers in Europe and Australia with civil society organisations in production and mining regions and experts in public procurement and human rights. More than 330 public buyers (affiliates to Electronics Watch) share costs and coordinate engagement with the electronics industry through Electronics Watch.

Responsibilities

The Affiliates Engagement Manager will provide coleadership and project management to support our affiliates in reaching their goals for socially responsible public procurement. They will:

  • Deliver high quality affiliate engagement to maximise affiliates internal capacities to integrate Electronics Watch in their procurement process.
  • Support and guide affiliates about the Electronics Watch model during pretender strategy development, and communication with bidders during tenders.
  • Support and guide affiliates contractors on the Electronics Watch due diligence model.
  • Support and guide affiliates during contract management and supplier engagement.
  • Codevelop and deliver regular updates to affiliates on our monitoring and company engagement activities (general and supply chain specific).
  • Develop and deliver webinars and workshops for affiliates and other public buyers.
  • Codevelop and write information material for our affiliates and other public buyers.
  • Cocoordinate Electronics Watch country representatives.

The Affiliates Engagement Manager will provide coleadership and project management in developing opportunities for potential affiliates. They will:

  • Develop opportunities for public buyers interested in strengthening socially responsible public procurement.
  • Ensure the onboarding of new affiliates.
  • Support new affiliates in developing internal processes and appropriate interfaces to implement the Electronics Watch model.

The Affiliates Engagement Manager will provide coleadership and project management in developing new resources to affiliates engagement. They will:

  • Codevelop and codesign new tools to engage affiliates directly and online.
  • Codevelop new communication tools to support affiliates’ internal communication.
  • Codevelop and codesign tender tools such as award and selection criteria to extend the leverage of the Electronics Watch model.

The Affiliates Engagement Manager will provide coleadership and project management to promote the Electronics Watch impact model and develop funding opportunities. They will:

  • Present the Electronics Watch model and impact results to public buyers, policy makers and civil society organisations.
  • Codevelop and write funding proposals.
Key Competencies

This is a senior level position. We look for candidates with significant experience in:

  • Public procurement and sustainable public procurement
  • Client engagement for support and consultation
  • Developing and conducting trainings for clients
  • Business development
  • Working with public authorities and civil society organisations

Candidates must also possess:

  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills for report writing and presentations at public forums
  • Excellent French or Spanish written and verbal communication skills for presentations at public forums and communication with (potential) affiliates
  • Ability to develop and write practical instruments
  • The ability to selfmanage tasks and workloads
  • The ability to travel within Europe
Desirable

The following skills and competencies would also be useful in this position:

  • Understanding of the structure and dynamics of the electronics industry
  • Understanding of labour rights issues in global supply chains, preferably the electronics industry
  • Understanding of business and human rights frameworks, including the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Business Conduct, the French Corporate Duty of Vigilance Law, the UK and Australian Modern Slavery Acts, and similar legislation
